Consultation Groups
DID Consultation Group
Lior Effinger-Weintraub, LICSW (Social Working Queer LLC) is starting a new peer consultation group for psychotherapists who work with dissociative identity disorder (DID), other dissociative disorders, and clients who experience plurality/multiplicity. Those of us who work with systems as clients need a different kind of support and consult space. Let’s connect in a space that understands the complexity of working with plural clients, prioritizes our clients’ self-determination (clients alone get to decide if they are working towards functional multiplicity or fusion), and leverages the collective wisdom we have gained from working with clients who are healing from severe complex trauma.
We will meet monthly (day/time TBD), and will begin once we have 5 members (including Lior as facilitator). The group will remain open to new members and drop-in consultations. However, therapists may find the most benefit through regular participation. My goal is to build a community of like-minded colleagues, to support our work and each other. My consult groups include a lot of resource sharing, and all participants will have access to a shared drive with reading suggestions and resources for clients.
Email lior@socialworkingqueer.com to express interest. Use DID consult group
as email subject and provide your name, a little info about your practice, and your time availability for consults.
This consult space is for:
- Therapists who have lots of experience working with systems
- Therapists who are new to systems as clients
- Any therapist who wants to consult with colleagues about both specific cases and general best practices for working with DID/dissociative/plural clients
This is a peer consultation group and does not count as supervision. Social Working Queer LLC also provides supervision for MN social workers who are pursuing independent clinical licensure. Contact me for more details, if interested.
Queerly Abundant
In partnership with Meg Schefter of Abundance Psychotherapy & Consulting, I run the community consultation group Queerly Abundant. This group meets biweekly year-round, with a focus on the intersections of LGBTQ+ identity, neurodivergence, and professional use of identity in therapeutic practice. This group is a space to create community connection, share skills, and build resources, especially for mental health practitioners in solo private practice. Note: We are currently open for one new member. If this sounds interesting to you, please reach out.
